Someone asked me last night “how did you travel? Was it driving, flying, train…?”

Answer is yes, all the travels! Driving, ferry, driving, flight, Uber, hotel. (No train actually but I did see one traveling spookily through the night, on my way down.)

Moving day!

It was only Monday and (in the best possible way) feels like a lifetime ago.

I’m still diving into multiple boxes every time I’m looking for that one thing (envelopes, a particular book, the microphone for my office, an extension cable), but I’m now past the “must haves” and into the “nice to haves”.

The move went relatively smoothly: after all, I was moving to an island, so it’s not fair to expect everything to be easy. But the ferry was on time, and the truck made it over, and I even got over on an earlier ferry so I could be at the house first. And it wasn’t raining!!

Sure, we had a little glitch with not being able to get the moving truck up the hill, so we carried half the truck’s contents up the hill and up and down stairs. But i loved the movers’ attitudes: just has to be done, so you do it as cheerfully as you can. We got a smaller truck the next morning and that went a lot faster.

But the electricity works and i have broadband and phone signal and i had sunshine for three days and when it rains i can be cosy inside.

Which is what I’m doing today. I have a living room full of boxes to tackle but I’m starting the day sitting in my yellow chair, drinking coffee and reading. And being distracted by lovely things like flying birds or the wind in the trees or clouds.
