Dear Covid-19,
We accept the fact that we’ve had to sacrifice a whole month in lockdown for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you’re crazy for making us believe who you think we are.
You see us as you want to see us, in the simplest terms, in the most convenient definitions.
But what we found out, is that each one of us is a
Brain,
motivated and hardworking and coming up with new business ideas
Athlete,
getting out for exercise and pushing ourselves to new limits
Basketcase,
unable to do anything and wanting to hide under the covers all day
Princess,
wanting to feel special, and dressing up just for the fun of it
and a
Criminal,
breaking some form of lockdown regulation and deep down feeling a thrill about it.
Does that answer your question?
Sincerely yours,
the 2020 club
—————–
…as you can see, i was watching the Breakfast Club last night.
Here’s to the brains, the athletes, the basketcases, the princesses, and the criminals.
May you embrace all the categories, whatever one you are today, or whatever combination you are right now.
May we not fall back into our one category, pretending we are okay and not admitting to being a basketcase when things are hard. Giving up on being an athlete when the lockdown is lifted, or leaving the tiara to the children again. Fitting into boxes and setting aside our newfound creativity, or going back to business as usual instead of stretching our brain power.
May we all still greet each other on Monday, and all the following Mondays too.
May we not walk past each other in the halls.
